Busy Little Buggers, Aren’t We?

Came across this article at New Economist while searching for some ammunition to use against yet another boring anti-American who’d rather believe the conventional “wisdom” of the Left than actually think for himself. This guy was posting to Slashdot regarding the “well-known fact” that in the U.S., we work all the time but don’t have the same level of productivity of “many other (unnamed) countries.”

Of course, the reality is the U.S. outstrips all other nations in productivity. I attribute this mostly to a continuing strong work-ethic - in stark contrast to France, Germany and most of the rest of the E.U. who believe “work” is that stuff you do to fill in the time between holidays.

Where “Patriotism” is a Four-Letter Word

Michelle Malkin reports a shameful thing.

From the King Philip Regional Secondary School District website:

The school will seek to ensure:

  • Global awareness
  • Multicultural diversity
  • Life-long learning
  • Educational opportunity
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Student ownership of learning
  • Shared decision making

Core Values

  • Centrality of classroom instruction
  • Respect for diversity
  • Communication
  • Working in Teams

Seems like their decision flies in the face of about half their “mission statement.” Could it be that this is another example of loony-leftist hypocrisy, where, like Humpty Dumpty in Alice in Wonderland, “when they use a word, it means just what they choose it to mean - neither more nor less”?

This appears to be a public high school. A ban on the presence of military personnel appears to violate the spirit, if not the intent, of the “No Child Left Behind” Act. I hope that local, state and Federal officials will take note and act accordingly.

These people would not even have the right to hold any opinions at all, without the willingness of those in the military to fight and die for the freedoms they so cavalierly hold.

Katie’s Got A Pair!

Do we even want to know what Perky Katie Couric© is doing in this photograph?

A visit to some friends in the Middle East, perhaps?

Iowahawk, Stop The Lies!

This article purports to be a “guest column” by vaunted anti-war zealot Jessie Macbeth, but there is something egregiously wrong here!

Macbeth is represented as being a “Breakfast Shift Associate” at Wendy’s restaurant.

Only problem: WENDY’S DOES NOT SERVE BREAKFAST AND NEVER HAS!

On that basis, I cannot help but suspect that Mr. Macbeth is NOT who he purports to be! Where is the celebrated blogosphere now, when they ought to be tirelessly working to expose this man!

Where’s Michelle Malkin!

An Incontinent Spoof

Great article at TCS about the new Algore flick “An Incovenient Truth.”

From the article:

“An Inconvenient Truth” is billed as the scariest movie you’ll ever see. It may well be, but that’s in part because it is not the most accurate depiction of the state of global warming science. The enormous uncertainties surrounding the global warming issue are conveniently missing in “An Inconvenient Truth.”

So who is the author of this indelicate ripping of one of our national treasures, the former Vice President?

Dr. Robert C. Balling Jr. is a professor in the climatology program at Arizona State University, specializing in climate change and the greenhouse effect.

Oopsie. Is it possible Dr. Ballinger might actually know a thing or two wherewith to protest this junk-science-filled star-vehicle for the once and future Democrat Presidential hopeful?

What Must It Have Been Like Before?

Cox & Forkum note the hypocrisy of our “friends” the Saudis.

The Saudi ambassador recently spoke publicly in glowing pat-yourself-on-the-back terms regarding the changes to the Saudi school curriculum. But the WaPo notes that these claims just aren’t true.

Wow. Radical Islamists practicing taqiyya. Who’d ‘a thunk it?

Will these textbooks now be faithfully translated into English and used in our public schools?

ABCs & 123s

What was ABC thinking when they hired John Stossel?

And they keep allowing him to do what he does best: Punch holes in the bottoms of the canoes of the Leftist establishment, hitting ‘em where they live.

Great article HERE about his report last January on 20/20: “Stupid In America.” And he doesn’t let the evil teachers’ unions criticize the report without a powerful response.

Freakanomics has a sharp review of Stossel’s latest book Myths, Lies, and Downright Stupidity.

The man’s a national treasure - and a likely target for Leftist atrocity, so I hope he has a full-time bodyguard.

- Merriam-Webster Unabridged Dictionary, 2002 Edition, C.f. “Amnesty.”

Might I suggest that any proposal by Mr. Bush in his address tonight, that comes close to rewarding illegal aliens for their behavior, based on how long ago they managed to sneak in here, will fit Definition 2, above. Any attempt by the White House to spin it any other way will not fly.

Who CAIRs?

Daniel Pipes has an interesting tale of yet another (possibly trumped up) “hate crime” against Muslims. Interesting how often people who just happen to be affiliated with CAIR in some official capacity, are victims of this kind of thing.

It’s like they walk around with ID badges on or something.

Me, I see headscarved women all the time, even here in the Houston suburbs, and really don’t think twice about it. Anecdotal, naturally, but I do think I’m fairly representative of the typical non-Muslim American who does actually believe in religious pluralism.

A concept, ironically, that does not seem to have much of a foothold in most Muslim nations.
