Blogger Wannabe
You know, I have trouble these days even remembering why the h*ll I even started this thing. I guess it was just a “me, too!” reflex, coupled with concern - nay, anxiety - over the socio-political situation in these United States (and the rest of the world by extension).
But now that it’s been in existence for coming up on two years, what has it really accomplished? Even I, the creator-spirit, don’t seem to be interested in it very much. I find that I use it more as a “portal” for other blogs I want to read, or websites I like to keep tabs on.
So what should I do? Fold the tent? Heck, it’s not really bothering anybody, just sitting here. Since I started hosting it offsite, the cost of its existence has escalated substantially, from essentially “zero” (running it on my own Linux server at home) to a whopping nine bucks a month - although that includes everything on my domain including all the email accounts that live there, so what cost is really involved? The blog is just piggy-backing.
Also, I have been too lazy to include the newest bells and whistles (such as a “now playing on my iPod” list, e.g.) I look at other, “hipper” blogs (hey, I’m destined to remain a “microbe” in the blogosphere, I suspect) and I realize just how much time and effort you have to put into staying current with the technology to allow your blog to become more and more “automated,” and ever more reflective of your “realtime” life.
Do I have that much time and effort to expend? With a demanding job, lots of bills to pay, and three young grandchildren to raise, I’m just not seein’ it.

New Problem for the M.A.T.
I propose the following to be included on the Miller Analogies Test:
“Republican is to Democrat as:
“a) ‘Whole Grain’ is to ‘Fruit Loop’
“b) ‘Hard Work’ is to ‘Government Check’
“c) ‘Promising cure’ is to ‘Embryonic Stem-cell fantasy’
“d) ‘Adults’ is to ‘Children’”
Based on the response by Rep. Peter Hoekstra to the NYT, I’d say the correct answer is d).
