Dog Snooping: Authorities Raid Home of Hip-Hopper ‘DMX’, Find Unpampered Pooches

Exurban League Blog has picked up on the story of one Earl Simmons, who goes by the hip-hop moniker DMX.

Seems that Mr. Simmons has been puttin’ on the dog - in fact, quite a few of them.

Friday’s search was prompted by reports that pit bulls kept by the rapper at the home in rural north Phoenix were not being given enough food or water. A dozen pit bulls were seized, the bodies of three dogs were dug up in the yard and a variety of assault-style weapons were taken from the home, [Maricopa County, AZ] Sheriff Joe Arpaio said.

The authorities also found quite a lot of illegal drugs. The cops aren’t saying what led them to move on the rapper’s digs, but Exurban League observes that DMX, who has 8 albums of “music” to his credit during his career, may have dropped a few hints along the way:

Apparently, the guy had quite the obsession with canis lupus familiaris.

Here are a few song titles: “Get at Me Dog”, “For My Dogs”, “Dogs for Life”, “The Kennel”, “Dog Love” (wha?), “Walk These Dogs” and “Dogs Out”. He also has a album titled Year of the Dog… Again and the album Grand Champ featuring what looks like a dog-fighting champion.

Simmons’ attorney has said that the rapper “hasn’t been there [at the home] for two months.” Haven’t we heard something like that before?

It’s important to note that authorities haven’t yet charged Simmons with any wrongdoing, but you have to wonder: Why would anyone actually admit through their “songs” that they have this “thing” for dogs, particularly the fighting breeds? (The dog shown on the cover of DMX’s 2003 album Grand Champ is most definitely not a Pomeranian).

Oh, but wait a minute. This guy is an “artist” in a genre that glorifies pimping, ‘ho’ing, cop-killing and criminality of all sorts. Dogfighting’s pretty mild in comparison.

If this story begins to expand into something more significant, along the lines of what we’ve seen with Mike Vick, it makes me wonder if we’re only seeing the tip of the iceberg. Either way, this is Foolishness by design.

N.B. Word on the street is that Snoop Dog has a real problem with this guy.

(And it does beg the timeless question: Who DID Let The Dogs Out?)

“featuring what looks like a dog-fighting champion.”

Really? A dog fighting champion you say? How would you know that? I imagine that you think all pit bulls look like “dog fighting champions”.

    BTW your jokes suck.

    Peace out,
    Classy Texas Fans…

Actually, that’s a quote from the Exurban Blog. I can see where a UT fan who probably never graduated college (or even attended UT - the classic UT fan profile) might get confused trying to read a post like this.

The dog on the cover of the CD is very handsome. Looks more like a show-dog than a fighting dog to me.

I followed your link from your awful soccer stadium comments. Bet you and your angry white friends think you’re real cute. Gosh- must be a bit crazy trying to scramble for reasons why your Gurus in office sacked the nation. And ran. Like the limbo, as the country sinks, how low can you go? Judging from your blog, pretty far down. Let’s not grab buckets, let’s razz minorities- a great distraction for disgruntled masses- kinda like gladiator games. Reminds me of attending a party during the Katrina debacle when several white men watching their 50″ HDTV screen in an air conditioned living room spoke about “THOSE people”. Yep, we sat on our white duffs, we had jobs, were not displaced or homeless and that’s the compassion we showed. I spoke out and got angry responses. But later, they invited me to church. Ironic and hypocritical but soooo Calvinistic.

I see on your blog you mention the Truth Laid Bare. Gotta laugh, you folks talk about the liberal media and just look at you! You probably are a Ditto Head, following the guy who once drew unemployment and welfare, who has been divorced several times and who is an opiate addict. Why don’t you blog on him so you can give biased views of white people?

What? No blog about Larry Craig? Only snuff about minorities? Your bigotry shows. BTW-I left you a gem on the Chron soccer blog: http://blogs.chron.com/soccer/archives/2007/08/dynamo_cash_dil.html
    under playtherapy.

    Enjoy!

First of all, I don’t believe your story about the “racist white guys” after Katrina. I’m sorry, but I just don’t. The reason is that there have been one instance after another of faux “racism” charges by Leftists of the past several years–claims by CAIR members that they were threatened by “white people” after 9/11, which turned out to be false, claims by “minority” college students and even professors who claimed vandalism or threats that turned out to be false (or self-inflicted), etc.

The vast majority of Americans of whatever color or stripe, are compassionate and concerned about others. People like you LOVE to put forth the lie about this so-called “racist society.”

Your complaint is a perfect case in point. You may or may not have understood where I was coming from in my comment, but it was a comment of the type known as “satire”. I was lampooning the idiots who complained about the original name of the Dynamo, “1836,” forcing the team to backpedal and change the name.

“1836″ was the year that Texas was founded. It would be exactly like complaining about the observance of “Cinco de Mayo” because it is “anti-French,” or whatever.

I’m sick of the double-standard. I can’t do much about the blatant racism of people like you and those you support, so I can make ironic and satirical comments pointing out your own prejudice and hate.
