I have attempted several times to post this comment to John McCain’s Campaign Blog, without success. I can only conclude that they have very smart filtering software that somehow will NOT allow anything other than a “glowing,” sycophantic love-note to go through.

So I’m posting it here, and I say again that I mean every word. I’m also going to “Trackback” every pertinent blog I can think of, because I’m so exercised about this topic!

Sen. McCain: I just made a contribution to your campaign. So far, I have contributed more money to you than I ever have any other candidate - and I am 50 years old.

That, I think, somewhat entitles me to say what follows.

Sir, I do not like you. I don’t like the fact that you’re the epitome of the career politician, a long-tenured Senator with no clue as to what makes this country run.

Time after time, you have demonstrated your ignorance of the role of the Federal government under the Constitution. You have sought directly to undermine the Constitution with ill-conceived and even disastrous legislation like the so-called “Campaign Finance Reform” act.

You are NOT the best the GOP had to offer. I would far rather have seen Mitt Romney or Fred Thompson, men of industry and business who have demonstrated the time-honored concept of stepping out of the private sector FOR A TIME to render service to country, bearing the standard of your party. Mitt Romney single-handedly has contributed more to the U.S. economy through jobs and wealth creation than all the idiotic legislative efforts you ever have or ever will sponsor - yet all you could say about it was that Gov. Romney “cost some people their jobs.”

You’re just the poster-child for what is wrong with Washington.

Okay, now that I’ve vented, I’ll now tell you why I’ve donated money to your campaign and will donate more.

Hillary! or Obama must be stopped. The modern Democrat party cannot be allowed to occupy the White House. We’ve had quite enough of the Clintons and their filthy, dirty corrupt brand of politics, and someone like Barak Obama will likely get a lot of Americans killed.

You do understand the terrorist threat, and you do understand the importance of a strong America, economically and militarily, to counter the threat of the rising evil in this world. You know that “sitting down to chat” with someone like Ahmadinejad would be the height of blithe ignorance and naivete.

You have served this nation faithfully and well as a naval aviator. You are an honorable man, though tainted by your long dalliance with the Washington power center. I can hope that you will surround yourself with good men, LIKE Gov. Romney (who graciously withdrew and threw his support to you, even after your nasty campaign tactics against him) and LIKE Mr. Thompson, to name but two, who will advise you as you discharge your duties as President, should that happen to fall to you.

I can only pray it will, for as much as I dislike much of what you represent, you shine like the brightest star in the firmament compared to the human debris that represents the best the Democrat party has to offer.

Good luck to you, sir. You have my money, and my vote, and I will do whatever I can to convince others to vote for you as well.

Godspeed, John McCain.

Now, just think how fast the illegal immigration problem will disappear when Cthulu gets hungry for Mexican food.

As for the War on Terror…well, Cthulu is the ultimate terror, of course, so any terrorist trying to bring down buildings in this country ever again will probably be too busy fighting for survival to plot the destruction of America.

I’m not sure what sorts of Supreme Court Justices Cthulu would appoint, but since the commencement of his reign will allow mankind to be “free and wild and beyond good and evil, with laws and morals thrown aside and all men shouting and killing and revelling in joy,” I guess it doesn’t much matter!

The downside of course will be the complete overthrow of the Constitution, but since things like freedom of religion (there will only be one) and of speech (who will dare say anything that might get him eaten instantly?) will also be moot, again, not much point.

One thing’s for certain, though: if you want a real conservative, who better than one of the Great Old Ones who existed before the beginning of time, and will make sure things really get back to what the “founders” intended. No more “Democrats,” that’s for sure, only meat on the hoof.

I’m sitting here at work, just doing my thing. The radio is on, I have it set to the NPR station, where momentarily the classical music will begin for the day. In the meantime, they have the “business” show Marketplace on. I’m only half paying attention, but they start this segment with former Olympic Swimmer Diana Nyad, a lesbian who is a “motivational speaker” and does “sports commentary” on San Francisco’s KCRW radio.

The topic is how “inappropriate” it was to have Allstate, the insurance company, sponsoring the NCAA’s “Bowl Championship Series” (BCS) football championship game in New Orleans, because “thousands of people were hurt by Allstate in the aftermath of hurricane Katrina.” She goes on to talk about how “devastated” New Orleans still is, and of course “big bad corporations” including Allstate are partly to blame for this (the ultimate culprit is Pres. Bush of course, but at least they didn’t go there in this segment).

I finally get so disgusted (and distracted) by the show that I switch it to the local “smooth jazz” station. And what do I immediately hear? A public-service announcement from HUD informing all those “displaced by Katrina” how to sign up for extension of benefits, to pay for housing, groceries, etc.

Okay, it’s more than two years ago now, and we’re all still picking up the tab for this. And we can’t get away from it. the PSA goes on and on about how you “don’t want to have to struggle to make ends meet, call now and get the assistance you need.”

That’s when it hit me: It’s all over. We’re LIVING in the socialist utopia that the Dems and others on the Left have wanted for so long. The Republicans are now socialists, and the Democrats are EXTREME socialists. Corporations are evil, John McCain says we have to control them, especially the pharmaceutical companies.

It really doesn’t matter who’s President. We can elect McCain, we can elect Hillary!, we can elect anybody, and the course will continue. Congress will keep passing laws raising our taxes and giving money to the “less fortunate,” and whoever is President is bound to sign it; that’s what’s been happening all along, all the rhetoric aside.

There’s not a darn thing any of us can do about it, either. Talk about electing a “third party candidate,” and that’s about all you’ve accomplished: Talking.

I’m in a terribly bad mood for a Friday, I can tell you.

Now, heres’ what I want to know: My AT&T/Cingular Samsung Blackjack has Windows Mobile 5.2 on it, which is quite awkward in many respects. But there appears to be NO WAY you can upgrade to a later version of Windows Mobile unless your wireless carrier AND the maker of your phone “allow” it.

So what good does it do to know about these newer versions when you can’t use them unless you upgrade your phone…

…Hey, wait just a gosh-darn minute!

I have noticed this for some time, but a young woman being interviewed on a local morning news show reminded me just how grating it has become: the use of the word “whether” without the accompanying “or” connecting the various clauses.

For instance, I should properly say “we had to decide whether we would have turkey or ham for Thanksgiving this year.”

But the new parlance, which disregards established rules of grammar and syntax, would have it thus: “we were trying to decide what to have for our Thanksgiving dinner, whether it would be turkey, whether it would be ham…”

A sort of infinite split infinitive, so to speak.

Dreadful.

I’m not sure why spelling, grammar, syntax, and general rules of English usage just don’t matter anymore, even to the supposedly educated. Or perhaps the reality is that education just isn’t what it used to be.
